How to Grow Loc’s

Sisterlocks ®
Sisterlocks are fine microloc’s. This system was created by a lady called Dr Jo-Anne Cornwell and involves a backward braiding technique (tip to root rather than root to tip) with the aid of a special tool designed to produce a very thin loc. It must be done by a specially trained Sisterlock stylist.
How Long Does it Take Hair to Loc?
Thus is one of the most commonly asked questions? A good answer is how long is a piece of string? The time it takes for your hair to loc depends on your hair texture. Coarse, curly and kinky hair loc’s fastest, soft wavy or straighter hair takes twice as long. On average it takes anything from 6 – 12 months for hair to loc.
The Stages of Locing
Beginning (6 – 12 months) The most important thing in the beginning is to start with the correct size sections so loc’s will grow strong and healthy. The hair is not loc’ed simply assembled into one and as a result is very delicate and needs to be looked after by grooming it regularly and keeping it moisturized.
Intermediate (12 – 18 months) During this stage the hair will develop and grow through a series of changes. It will do things you have like frizz and look plain old crazy but don’t sweat the hair is just taking shape and form and developing its own personality.
Rooted Stage (2 years plus) When you are here you are truly at the point of no return. Set a regular schedule to maintain and retwist the new growth and be proud of your commitment and patience to grow beautiful long healthy loc’s.
