YourStory Book One is a compilation of historical accounts of people, places and events that are rarely (if ever) taught to youth. These are accounts that should undoubtedly be woven into the pages of our history books. It has taken me 45 years to take the journey to go natural I have never felt more sexy than I do now.

I have had more compliments since I have gone natural than when I had my long flowing weaves.

Even though I have been natural for 2. Years I have only started locing my hair 3 jan 09, as this year it is about me. I love the convenience of just getting up and go, when traveling I no longer have the
additional luggage that I have to tote with all my hair products and I have additional time in the evenings and mornings know that I don't have to worry about " doing my hair".

My decision took a while for me to make as I am also about 70% gray which makes my locs look like strands of silver.

Issues with Locs by Natasha Bailey

I have had locked hair for 5 years this August and I just recently realised I have issues with my locs. Now when I started my locs back in August 2002 I dreamt of a carefree hairstyle, no more unravelling my double stranded twists and spending the best part of the day retwisting it, all I would have to do is retwist the roots. <more>

Hey girl,

I don't know how old this concern you wrote is but I have a way in which I tighten my locs that doesn't involve twisting.  I had the same problem when I first started but i ran into a brotha from CA and he taught me this system.  What you do is, you take a loc and you push the end of the loc through the root of that loc's new growth.  You repeat this pushing it through a different loop each time until the new growth is not felt.  This will tighten the loc...and voila!  no more twisting!  It has worked for me.  I can wash my hair and not worry about my tightened roots coming undone.  I use to tighten my hair every week but now I do it every two to three weeks.  I hope this helps.  pass it along!

peace. love. blessings.
